There are a lot of things going at FuseMail right now. We are continuing to develop our new Webmail version (v3 Beta), which all of our customers can now preview by clicking login in the top-right corner of our website and then selecting “Try Webmail v3 (Beta)”. We also are putting the finishing touches on our new sync client.

But behind the scenes we’ve also been working on a new Notification Client. This useful piece of software may not be something many of our clients have even heard of. We don’t publize it very much right now, although we intend to change that.

If you use Outlook, Thunderbird or any other popular email client, you’ll no doubt be used to the popups that appear in the corner of your screen that tell you about a new email that has just arrived. However, if you use a Webmail client, then you normally have no way of knowing if you have new emails, unless you actually go and login to your Webmail interface.

Our notification client brings the new message alert functionality to your Webmail account. After you download our software, you’ll be able to receive popup alerts that tell you about your new message.

Our new notification client has many new features:

  • Cross-platform support (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.)
  • Both a brand-free version and FuseMail branded version will be produced.
  • We’ll display multiple new messages at once.
  • Support built-in for version 3.
  • Add multiple FuseMail accounts and colorcode new messages from different accounts. This will be useful for those people who have multiple FuseMail accounts, or for managers who want to monitor employee email accounts.
  • Built-in compose window. When you click on a “mailto” link, you’ll get a near-instant compose window, unlike in our existing client where you have to wait for Webmail to load.

Here is a screenshot of the new notification client in action:

We expect the beta release to be available within the next 2 weeks.
